Mook is such a good sport when I randomly whip out my huge DSLR camera and tell him to pose for the blog… but really, isn’t it cute when guys rock pink? Especially when paired with a green blazer.

This morning, in between writing two papers, I found myself procrastinating in my usual ways. This includes watching my favorite YouTube videos that make me laugh, looking at the new arrivals at J.Crew and browsing pretty decorative things for my room. Thus, this spread of four random things that I am currently loving and longing for was created.
Ever since I watched Kristen...
A simple, yet absolutely wonderful, quote for a simple, yet super colorful, post because all my time and energy has been put into the new Bee and Contact pages! Yippee for a fresh Simply Bee look!
plenty by Tracy Reese dress (from four years ago!), Lilly Pulitzer elephant flats, kate spade bangles, On the Mark necklace by stella & dot and peep show by essie!
Saturday mornings consist of rolling out of bed, throwing your hair in a bun, putting on some sunglasses, a scarf, brunching, putting a flower in your hair from brunch, then realizing you and your friends are all wearing beige sweaters and black jeans (with brown accents).
Pink straws! I always drink out of a straw and they are usually of the pink variety.
Gold hoops! I have been really digging hoops lately, but they have to be gold! Always gold.
Pink Tibi top! I have this top in a cream color and it is my ultimate favorite top! Perfect when paired with jeans (and gold hoops) to go out or paired with demin shorts and K. Jacques sandals.
Gold essie! Enough...

Wearing shorts in California!
Eating at my favorite restaurant, La Med, in California!
Seeing my beloved Pearl in California!
Last night, CCB and I decided to celebrate Fat Tuesday because… why not? CCB got these adorable lil’ cupcakes while I ate so many SunDrops and gummy bears that I got a stomach ache. Oh, you don’t know what SunDrops are? They are basically just all-natural peanut M&Ms, without any artificial coloring and happen to be my favorite candy on EARTH!
I never truly appreciated scarfs until I came to the east coast for college. And now, it’s like I’ve started a mini collection! I think my favorite scarfs are my fashminas (my $10 fake pashminas) because they come in the prettiest colors and are so soft! However, my white Burberry scarf holds a special place in my heart because Pearl and I bought it at Le Bon Marché (the first...
Oh man, I love a long weekend. One extra day makes all the difference! Yesterday consisted of going to lunch with Mookie’s parents, making more vegan orange scones with CCB, taking an hour out of my day to paint my nails and straight chilling with friends all night. Perfection! This is what I wore — black J.Brand skinny jeans, J.Crew camel sweater, lime green Tory Burch flats...
It’s only 12:30 pm… you still have time to brunch (last summer in NYC, I once had brunch reservations at 4:00 pm) and make these sweet potato hashbrowns!
This is whatcha need —
Plus some olive oil, salt and pepper, cayenne pepper and ketchup! So first,
and microwave the sweet potatoes with a little water for 7-10 minutes. It’s key to partially cook the...
Here’s a sneak peek of tomorrow’s post! A super super simple and delicious addition to your weekend brunch!
Oooooh you guys! I am kind of getting obsessed with all my Adobe trials and spend my free time drawing little illustrations. This coral number is actually my new iPhone lock screen background! Feel free to use it yourself and if you want, take a screenshot of it and email it to me at simplybrookemcc@gmail.com! The font I used is called soymilk (I die I love it so much) which I downloaded from...
Look at the lil’ whisky I gave Mook for Valentine’s Day! Last year, I gave him Maker’s Mark and decided to keep with the tradition because it makes his preppy self oh so happy.
PS: here is a pretty picture of the sky to wish you all a happy Friday!
Look at my new rug! I die for navy and I die for chevron-printed anything; so naturally, I am dying over this new addition to my room! This rug is from ArborRoad’s shop on Etsy and took about a month to get to my house because it’s a custom made item. ArborRoad took inspiration from Jonathan Adler’s high-end decor, but decided to design and paint her own rugs, curtains,...
That one time Mook thought it would be a good idea to swan dive onto my bed, attempted the swan dive and then almost broke his nose on my bed frame. Needless to say, the pictures are blurry towards the end because I was on the floor crying of laughter for a solid 10 minutes (after I realized he didn’t break his nose and he was also laughing out of pain/silliness).
Oh ya,...
Happy Valentine’s Day to all my lovely readers!
I found myself being a daydream believer in class today and thus, this was designed based on this! I am kind of tempted to start up a greeting card company because drawing champagne bottles and polka dots for a solid 50 minutes would kind of be an amazing job. Maybe I’ll open an Etsy shop? Actually, I am TOTALLY going to open an Etsy shop. Bee on the look out!
I’ve been out and about looking at Valentine’s Day cards to send to my loved ones back in California, but then I had a realization… I should be making them! Just a simple heart design and a lil’ cursive makes the perfect simple card.
Happy Friday, friends!
You guys, it’s almost the weekend! Rejoice! I can’t wait to sleep in, eat pancakes, hit the yoga mat, hit the pavement for a run, laugh uncontrollably with my friends, sleep some more, eat some more and finally, paint these nails of mine in lovingly Valentine’s Day colors after a week of destroying them due to dishes and hours of graphic designing! PS: For here on out, get...
The other day, I was rummaging through a recycled furniture/home goods store and found a box of old Christmas decorations. Everything in the box was 5 cents! 5 CENTS! So naturally, I grabbed those glittery green leaf-like things and put them in my $1.00 vase on my mantle… and decided one night that I would hang my necklaces on it (don’t even know). It’s right next to the...
Makeshift dinner = Annie’s mac n’ cheese, fresh spinach, frozen peas, cut-up butternut squash (that I roasted this weekend), sautéed zucchini and topped with freshly grated parmesan… all eaten out of the pot I boiled the pasta in. I’m fancy, huh?
Have you noticed a little change around the blog? Maybe at the top of the page? CELEBRATIONS* ARE IN ORDER! Change your readers/bookmarks/take a mental note of www.brooke-kiernan.com!
*Celebrations in the form of this gorgeous tassel garland from Pomflair!
Remember that time I had the most splendid morning ever that involved vegan orange scones, Boy Meets World and wearing a flannel and flats to class? Well the other day, I received a message from a lovely fellow tumblr-er asking for the recipe, which was a perfect excuse to make the orange scones again and eat two (or three) of them for lunch!
Things to know before reading on — 1) This...
That time some boys thought my 25 cent glass was filled with Skittles… and not fuzzy pompoms.
“THEY LOOK LIKE SKITTLES! THAT’S REALLY MEAN! I WON’T STAND FOR IT!”
Out the glass and on the mantle/floor they gooooooooo!

Happy TUES[day]! It was kind of wonderful waking up to a snowfall since this winter has been bizarre with very little snow and way too much rain.
Currently wearing the coziest orangey-red boyfriend sweater from J.Crew, black cashmere scarf, JKC bangle, with a spritz of Daisy.
Keeping with the orangey-red theme, I made sweet potato fries for lunch since I am fresh out of groceries and had...
CCB has been sporting the coolest of the cool ear warmer from Mexicali Blues as of late! Such an awesome company based out of Maine that makes tons and tons of different styles and colors. Check it!
It snowed! And I found the perfect nude nail polish that should actually be worn on a hot and sunny beach… Sand Tropez by essie.
My morning routine = coffee through a straw. Do it! And...
I’m always paying attention to the calendar because I’m always prepping for the next holiday. This also includes buying festive candy. Halloween = candy corn and candy pumpkins, Christmas = candy canes and red and green kisses, Valentine’s Day = CONVERSATION HEARTS! Not the most delicious, but it works. ANYWAYS! Valentine’s Day! So soon! And who says...
magnoliabb asked: Thanks for the info on the shoes! Now, where did you get that perfect bedding? I'm dying for a new all white bed but I love the hint of color in the pearling and monogram!!
One of these things is not like the other.
Hopped out of bed to find my two dearest friends downstairs watching Boy Meets World and eating homemade vegan orange scones, all before 8 AM. Too many laughs and two cups of coffee later, I ran to my room to throw together an outfit consisting of my monogrammed L.L. Bean flannel shirt, black Uniqlo jeans and kate spade flats. Happiest Thursday to all of you!
Sneak peek of part of my room makeover v.2012! I have crazy old school wallpaper in my room, so I decided on white sheets (already got mascara on a pillowcase) with a light blue “pearl” outline + my monogram. Note to self: take sheets right out of the dryer before they crinkle up in five seconds.
PS: this photo is brought to you by candlelight (when my room was still pre-lamps).
So remember when I visited my great aunt and uncle in Santa Monica right before flying to NYC for 21st birthday shenanigans? Well, it was SUCH a good quick trip filled with lots of family time, yoga, eating divine cheeses and going to the movies every night. Perfection! Their house is kind of amazing (think zen and eclectic) and filled with lots of knickknacks from trips they’ve been on and...

Hello hello! So I have been doing some thinking for awhile now about this lovely blog and been wanting to revamp it like NO OTHER! If anyone read my old blog, which was 110% ridiculous, I wrote elaborate posts about my random days prancing around San Francisco, eating really delicious food and doing really absurd stuff (mostly with Kailey). I was definitely more myself on the blog/had more time to...
Oooooooooh my hips and knees are killing me! But the 13.1 miles were AMAZING! Srsly! I will do a super quick recap of my morning. Starting… now!
So I woke up at 6:15 am, put on my racing outfit, ate some oatmeal, drank a cup of coffee (this is a must before any of my runs) and the glorious CVD woke up from her beauty sleep, immediately put her huge sunglasses on and made me cry of laughter...
I’m ready! To run! 13.1 miles! Got my lululemon outfit laid out (the cool racerback, the groove short and the slipless headband), my reliable ASICS (and lululemon running socks that I wore during my first half marathon) and iPhone running band! OH MON DIEU! LET’S DO THIS!
PS: the lululemon groove shorts will change your life. I have three pairs and I NEVA TAKE THEM OFF. I workout in...
Guess what (part II)?
I am in Newport Beach visiting my beloved CVD! I sadly had to say bye to Mookie (he flew back to the cold east coast), Pearl (I love my Pearly so much) and San Francisco yesterday. It was such a perfect little break in the bay with all my favorite people at once! Un-be-lieeeevable! So relaxing and just what I needed after a crazy semester at school.
Anyways!
I am in...
magnoliabb asked: Hey! where did you get your perfect leather t-strap sandals that are in the photo next to the sperrys??
POP FIZZ CLINK! Gold and turquoise? Dead! So cute! Thank you to my lovely lovely friend, Amy, for sending me this perfect kate spade New Years card! It’s all packed up in my suitcase and ready to be brought back to Vermont to put on my creative lil’ bulletin board (that I shall be making as soon as I get back).
Hi! Guess what?
I’m still livin’ the dream. Life is superb here in San Francisco with Mook by my side and Pearl on my other side! Along with sporadic visits from my two brothers and daddio, since my brothers and I AND all our significant others dined at my dad’s house last night for a FEAST! Mook tried an artichoke for the first time. I was told that it’s a California...
Happy 2012, friendlings!
I hope your New Years Eve was superb! Mook and I spent it lounging in robes, drinking mimosas and thinking of how cold Times Square looked on TV. Robe-ing is dangerous. You just never want to get up. Obvious issues over here!
Anyways! Rewind a little to New Years Eve DAY! Mook and I spent it at AT&T Park watching UCLA v. Illinois play in the Fight Hunger Bowl! UCLA...

Here are three miscellaneous pictures of my last day and a half —
Pearl and I went to a local boutique’s INSANE 75% off sale. They were fresh out of my size in pretty much everything (tried to smash my feet into these gorgeous Lanvin flats, but Pearl guided me otherwise), but Pearl ended up with a beautiful top!
INSANE 75% off sale continued. I MEAN….. $44 (originally...
